Hello everybody,
I’m updating you after my first full day in Pai. I made it all the way to Pai without feeling sick (it may have to do with all the Dramamine I took and requesting to sit in the front next to the driver).
Staying at a new hostel is definitely another substantial social battery investment. Luckily, I have three other guys from my other hostel staying with me, so there is some familiarity!
Yesterday, I went on a landmarks tour with the hostel. The first stop was a Chinese Village a little outside of town. There was even a manual Ferris wheel that I went on. It was a little scary but still pretty fun.

Afterward, we went to a waterfall with slippery rocks that resembled a water slide. It wasn’t very comforting to begin sliding down a huge rock, but I quickly overcame it. It was pretty scary, and I definitely felt like I might get my butt pretty scraped up, but I ended up doing it twice.

We also went to hot springs, which I didn’t take a picture of, but they were HOT. I’ve never been in a hot tub of that kind of heat before. Wow. Luckily, there was a cold shower on the side.
After making our way back to town, we stopped for dinner. Khao Soi is a popular northern Thai dish. It consists of egg noodles, curry broth, and usually a meat like chicken. I tried it for the first time, and it’s SO GOOD. I have also been drinking a lot of Thai tea. Below are some pictures of food and drinks I’ve had recently!

One of the most striking parts of Pai is the landscape. It is a small village surrounded by lush mountains. It’s known as a reprieve for hippies and has a very laid-back way of life.

My plan going forward is to go tubing, take a hostel-led tour to the Myanmar border, and chill a little before heading to Laos.
Your well-fed girly,
Mahala
