Updates from Luang Prabang, Laos

Hello everybody,

β€œOn the road again/Just can’t wait to get on the road again” 🎡 ~ Willie Nelson

I’m sick again whoooooooo!! This time, it’s a sore throat and cough. Don’t worry; I went to a pharmacy again (see below for what they gave me!) I feel like I’m touring the pharmacies of Southeast Asia!!!

Hopefully this helps fingers crossed 🀞

I started my first night in the Sunrise River Hostel. I was not alone in my bed. There were small little ants having a sleepover with me, which is not fun in general, but especially not fun when you can feel yourself getting sick. There were also these little critters, but they were cute and outside (how I like most animals).

When I went to open my door last night, about 8 of these scurried out from the cracks above our door.

I have transitioned to a hotel for the rest of my time in Laos. It’s unbelievable the difference $35 can get you.

More hostels with be coming in the future though πŸ™‚

Laos is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I’m in a more mountainous town of about 50,000! Everyone is friendly, and kids smile and wave at me as I pass them on the street. I even gave a little girl a high five, which was cute!

I mean come on!!!!

This morning, after waking up and needing to cleanse myself of the ant hostel, I stumbled upon a cute cat cafe. The food was fabulous, and I just hung out, read, and sipped some cappuccino while casually chatting with the lady who owned it.

Once it was time to check into my hotel, I ambled across town with luggage in tow.

Even though it’s only a 15 min walk from the hostel to the hotel, it kind of sucked being sick + humidity. I’m pretty sure I looked a little psycho checking into a reasonably nice hotel πŸ™‚

I went to the daily night market for dinner and had some amazing ramen, which soothed my throat.

Here is a picture of the night market. It goes on for so long! The area is just so cute at night, and there are fairy lights everywhere.

I hope to go back and explore more when I’m feeling better. I also want to get out and explore during the days so my body better behave soon!

Although I am missing out on the social aspect of hostels, I love this alone time. I needed it BADLY! I’m going to crawl into bed and call in a night.

Your sicko girly,

Mahala

  1. So sad you are sick! Pray you are on a speedy mend! Love the pics of hhe landscape and markets! Yay for the girly girl abandoning the bug infested hostel!πŸ‘
A lifetime of amazing memories being made! Grandpoppy & I may be adding another bucket list item. We love you and are so happy to get each of your reports knowing you are safe, albeit feeling awful! Resting in a nice hotel and lots of healthy ramen should do the trick! Of course, appropriate drugs are good! πŸ₯°
