Hello everyone,
Yesterday, I started with a slow breakie at the hotel. Let me just say that there were platters upon platters of food. It’s kind of what I imagine heaven would look like. I then got myself together and walked across town to the Wat Xiengthong Buddhist temple.

After literally sweating pools from my face (the picture you were all waiting for is below), I walked about 20 min to meet my new friends.

On the plane, I sat next to a Scottish guy named Greig, who introduced me to a French Canadian named Jérémie. We split a van to drive an hour out of town to the Kuang Si Waterfalls. They might be the most BEAUTIFUL waterfalls I have ever seen. I felt like I had entered a fairyland.

You can also swim in the resulting pools at the bottom, which are magical. Of course, I jumped right in. One of the best feelings of this trip has been jumping into bodies of water after becoming a sticky red ball of sweat.

I didn’t get a picture, but we stopped at a buffalo dairy for ice cream on the way back to town. I was definitely scared to try it. I’m not a huge dairy fanatic and every flavor was the same orangish-brown color. BUT you’re only in Laos once (but in all reality, I plan to return to this side of the world many times🤞). I ordered apple pie, and it was fantastic! The guys told me I was super American for that, but conceded that I had ordered the best flavor.
After quickly returning to my room for a shower, we all met again at the night market. I have enjoyed talking to Greig and Jérémie. Both are not huge staying out late people, which is a breath of fresh air! Greig also works in data analytics, so I’ve discussed future careers with him!
I was going to wait to make this a two-day post, but I think I’m going to leave it here!
ຂອບ ໃຈ (pronounced khob chai, which is thank you in Lao),
Mahala
